CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The main theme of PAQS Congress 2024 is Digitalization Towards a SMART Nation.

DIGITALISATION, is the ongoing integration of digital technologies and digitised data across the economy and society. Digitalisation also refers to the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities.

The rapid transformation from analogue to digital has been called the 4th Industrial Revolution. The 1st Industrial Revolution being the transition from manual production to machine production. The latest revolution is a transformation from machine to digital application of artificial intelligence, creating intelligent devices and machines, to work for man.  Harnessing this technological breakthrough produces huge benefits in term of economics, productivity and efficiency that we have never seen before and are enormous to any entity, corporation, city, and nation.

Digital applications impact on every aspect of our daily life such as using advance digital devices to access digital information, online learning, online e-Commerce, e-Payment, Work from Home, via Internet of Things etc. This spins off the many popular multimedia platforms and is a part of human life that human cannot live without them.

From the Construction Industry’s perspective, digital application helps to leapfrog efficiency and productivity, especially in the field of design and construction, spanning from initial planning, design and budgeting to operations and asset management, as data usage in the construction is huge. Adopting digital modes as common platform for exchanges of information will enhance collaboration and reduce errors.

S.M.A.R.T means for “Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology” and is achieved physically integrated with digital technologies and digital innovation. A City could be designed and constructed physically to be a highly digitally operated, managed, connected, automated, efficient and intelligent city.

Nation designed to be SMART would make up of highly automated cities and communities, efficient buildings, and smart homes, intelligent traffic and transportation system, and high speed 5G communication.  And incorporated smart elements of advance digital tools, application and technology.

DIGITALISATION to be SMART could be as broad and wide as digital technologies allow them to be.  Projects with big data involvement, consumption and application are best suited with digital technology to improve their processes to be efficient and productive.

New digital technology and invention emerged by the hour since the relic days when transportation of riding horses and camels were invented, when mails were sent by pigeons. New applications and devices are developed, and they are powerful to stand on their own.

    • as-built progress and as-built,
    • enabling data-driven decision,
    • use of drones for mapping and survey,
    • GPS tracking and remote control,
    •  integrating artificial intelligence  in Construction,
    • 3D Printing Construction,
    • Intelligent Construction Services,
    • Smart Construction Machines,
    • 5G based construction applications, and
    • Smart meters and smart sensors

for efficient and sustainable management of assets during their operations.

  3. The Digitalisation of the Profession of Quantity Surveyors and Cost Engineers

This sub-theme focuses on embracing digitalisation by moving from paper-based information to digital based information to transform from effective cost solution to value-based solutions.

Big data processing, application, and management, integrating designing, documentation, project management, construction management of projects are some of the core areas of discussion.

  4. Digitalisation and Ethical Practice

This sub-theme focuses on Digital Certification, ICT Literacy, Ethics and Awareness, Digital Competency, Skills and Training, Data Security and Privacy Issues, Regulations and Enforcement.

Delegates who are interested in presenting a paper for one or more of the parallel sessions are encouraged to submit an abstract via email to publication@paqs2024.com

Please read the following guide thoroughly before developing your abstract and submitting it by indicating for which sub-theme your submitted abstract belongs to. Upon review and selection by the selection committee, the abstract will be considered for the most suitable sub-theme and you will be notified accordingly via email.
